Remodel Yard Prep, Drainage Fix and Gravel Driveway in New Kent

Older homes going through a remodel come with a lot of moving parts - and the yard work is no exception. This one in New Kent had some real issues that needed to be sorted out before new owners could settle in. Standing water in the backyard, a busted-up driveway, and a roadside ditch line so clogged it had basically stopped doing its job. We came in and took care of all of it.

The backyard needed serious earthwork. We moved dirt to regrade the area and cut a proper swale to give that standing water somewhere to go. Water ponding next to a house isn't just an annoyance - it causes foundation problems, soggy ground, and erosion over time. Getting the grade right from the start means the new owners won't be dealing with that headache down the road.

The driveway got a full rehab with fresh gravel, and we recut the ditch line out at the road where it had silted up past the pipe. A clogged ditch at the roadway causes water to back up onto the property instead of flowing away from it. It's one of those things that gets ignored until it becomes a real problem. Once we opened it back up, drainage started moving the way it's supposed to.

Every disturbed area on the property got seeded and covered with straw to protect it while the ground settles and the grass establish. We also planted flowers and plants up front to give the place some curb appeal for the new owners walking in for the first time. It's the kind of finishing touch that makes a difference when you're handing a property off to someone.
