This one was a heavy lift from start to finish. A 2,800+ square foot, three-story home had been gutted by fire - and the goal was simple: get it completely cleared so the next owner has a clean, buildable lot. That means permits, erosion and sediment control, full structural demo, concrete removal, footing excavation, fill import, grading, topsoil, seed, and straw. Every single piece of it.
We handled the permitting side first. That part matters more than people realize. Skipping or rushing permitting on a job like this creates problems down the road - for the property owner, for neighbors, and for whoever builds next. Once we had everything squared away, we got the E&S components in place to protect the surrounding properties before the first bucket swing.
Then the demo started. The structure came down in stages using our CAT excavator. The driveway and sidewalk were broken out and hauled off. The footings - which are some of the heaviest, most stubborn material on a demo job - got excavated and removed. Once the lot was stripped down, we brought in 60 tons of fill material to get the grade right, then finished it off with topsoil, seed, and straw.
What you end up with is a lot that's ready to go. No debris. No hidden concrete. No erosion problem waiting to happen. Just a properly prepared site sitting in an established Toano neighborhood, ready for a builder to come in and start fresh. That's the whole point of a job like this - make it right so the next chapter can actually happen.
Jobs like this aren't just about swinging iron and hauling material. They require coordination, the right equipment, and someone who understands how to manage a complex demo in a residential setting without making a mess of the surrounding properties. That's what we do.
