Every rain was a problem for this homeowner in Lanexa. Road runoff had nowhere to go - no culvert pipe existed at all - so water was sheeting straight across the driveway and into the yard. Over time, that kind of unchecked flow does real damage. Erosion. Rutting. Standing water. It only gets worse.

We came in with a real fix. That meant installing 32 feet of 15-inch reinforced concrete pipe to carry that water under the driveway and safely away. We also cut a proper ditch line to direct flow into the pipe the way it's supposed to work. No shortcuts, no band-aids.

Here's something a lot of contractors skip: the permitting. Because this work touches the road right of way, it required a VDOT permit before we could legally touch anything near the road edge. We handled all of that. Working in the right of way without proper authorization is not just risky - it can get the work undone and leave you on the hook. We did it by the book.

Once the pipe and ditch were in, we didn't just pack up and leave. Every disturbed area got remediated - graded back out, straw laid down to protect the soil and encourage stabilization. You can see how clean the finished grade looks along the road edge and across the yard. That matters, especially heading into the rainier months.

This is the kind of drainage work that actually solves the problem instead of just slowing it down. If your yard or driveway is taking a beating every time it rains, there's a good chance a missing or undersized culvert is the root cause. It's fixable - and it's worth doing right.
